Learn To Read Hebrew From Zero and Basic For Beginners - Chapter 6 - The Consonants Ayin ע and Tet ט

THE CONSONANTS AYIN ע AND TET ט

ע “Ayin”, this consonant does not really have any sounds. It is just like the consonant “Aleph”. For example:

עַיִן	Ayin
שׁוֹמֵעַ	Shomea

ט “Tet”, this consonant is pronounced with “t” like in the word “try”. For example:

טוֹלֵט	Tolet
מַטַב	Matav

THE VOWEL SHURUQ וּ

וּ “Shuruq”, this vowel is a merger of the letter “waw” in which a dot is given in its midst. This “Waw” lose its function as consonant. This vowel “Shuruqis pronounced with “u” just like in the word “moon”. For example:

בָרוּשׁ	Varush
הָלוּם	Halum

EXERCISE
1. טָ עִ אֵט טוֹ עוּ טֶא עֶא עֶט
2. הוֹ הוּ בּוֹ בּוּ לוֹ לוּ מוּ רוּ
3. בֵּע בֶט שׁוּל טוֹב טוּע עוּט

2. טוֹב : Good
3. יִשְׂרָאֵל : Israel
4. עַל : On
5. שׁוֹמֵר : Guard
